So, yesterday was my first day on the new job at the City. Everyone's nice, working in City Hall is neat (the building almost feels Capitol-style, which makes sense since it's the central government building for 3.7 million people, more than a lot of states), I got to drive a City car. Plus, you know, there's the buckets of money and the career opportunities. And, I'm set up to work a 9/80 schedule, working a little longer most days, in exchange for getting every other Monday off. So that's good.
Yay, new job!
Today was my last day working at UCLA. A three day weekend, and then I start with the City!
...and so I vote, so it comes to pass. All eight propositions in the 2005 California "Special" Election went down to defeat, and the LAUSD school bond passed.
That's a nice kick in the teeth for our governor, eh? Maybe now he'll work with the legislature, instead of spending a ton of money trying to dupe the people into doing his dirty work for him.
I cast my (provisional) ballot this morning in the 2005 California "Special" Election. I'm ever so glad Arnold called this oh-so-vital election so that I could vote "No" on every single terribly thought out and/or not-so-sneaky right wing-backed proposition.
Me, I'm not a fan of "direct democracy." In case you couldn't tell.
I did, however, vote "Yes" on an LAUSD school bond.
...and another week gone by. Work's been kind of odd, since I gave notice. It's sort of quiet in general, and on top of that, there are things I might normally be working on that I'm not because I'll be leaving before whatever it is gets implemented. It's just as well, as I'm already pretty much out of here mentally. Looking forward to starting at the City on the 14th, though!
