Had a bit of a scare this morning. I woke up to find my computer turned off, after leaving it on when I went to bed. I tried turning it back on to no avail. Had a hunch it was my power supply, reinforced by an odd off/on power blip I experienced Wednesday. I had replaced my power supply on my old PC, so I knew that if that was what it was I'd be okay. My friends Mike and Marek agreed with my diagnosis. A trip to Fry's and $40 later, I was able to give it a go. Turns out it was indeed the power supply, and I'm posting from my computer now. It's nice when a computer problem turns out to be relatively inexpensive and something you can fix yourself.
Just wrapped up a busy but fun weekend. Started off with Strato Saturday morning, then a Passover seder Saturday night, Sunday morning was Dungeons and Dragons, and Sunday night was another seder. Good times!
So I went to the Angels game today with most of the BASL owners. Had a good time, would have had a better time had the Angels not lost to the Mariners 5-3. Still, good to go to my first game of the season.
Speaking of the BASL, I never mentioned here that my DC Dragons won the 2004 championship last month. The Dragons and my Roswell Grays have started the 2005 season slowly, but it's only 6 games in, plenty of time to turn things around.
In non-baseball news, there's a new pope! From all accounts, he's not just a conservative, but he was the guy in charge of keepin' it conservative under John Paul II. Glad I'm not a Catholic. In fact, NPR described the new guy's old "keep-it-orthodox" unit as the modern incarnation of the Inquisition. I wasn't expecting a sort of Spanish Inquisition...
NPR has a feature story on Strat-O-Matic baseball. Very cool!
Last night, I took Emily to see Fever Pitch at the ArcLight. Very enjoyable movie, and we could certainly relate to the characters. The part I liked best about it was... I came off looking good compared to Jimmy Fallon's character!
