Happy birthday, Dad!
So, yeah. How's it going? I sort of burnt myself out posting in early November, but now I'm back.
Last Saturday Mike and I went to the computer show in Pomona to get new computers for me and Emily. Walked out of there with pretty sweet machines:
3.0 Ghz processor (1.6 on my old PC)
512 MB RAM (256 old)
160 GB hard drive (40 old)
128 MB graphics card (64 old)
17" flatscreen monitor (17" CRT old)
DVD and CD RW (DVD/CD read only old)
Win XP (Win 98 old)
...plus the usual mouse/keyboard/speakers bundle.
I got the same exact machines for me and Em, except she's using my old CRT monitor, and my set is black while her's is tradional PC off-white.
One of the reasons for the new machines (beside both Emily and I having machines from 2001) was that we wanted to play Blizzard's new game, World of WarCraft. While our old computers either barely played it or couldn't play it at all, our new machines run it super smooth.
And it is indeed a great game. Lots of great MMORPG action, the first time we've actually played this sort of game. But I played in the WoW beta test, and loved it, so I knew Blizzard was delivering another winner. Plus, it's a fun game Em and I can play together, seeing as how the second "M" in "MMORPG" is "multiplayer." Right now, our main characters are a human paladin for me and a dwarven hunter for Emily. They make a great tandem, as I keep the bad guys busy beating me up while my heavy armor, shield, and healing abilities absorb the punishment, and Emily blasts them with her blunderbuss.
Well, I've rambled on enough about computers and computer games for one night. I'll sign off now, but before I forget...
Happy Hanukkah!
So, Mike's been upgrading our servers, which is good news. This post is a test to see if everything works, which would be even better news.
Update! - Better news indeed. Huzzah, new server!
