Inspired by a recent post by Mike, I decided to try a google ego trip. Suprisingly, this site didn't come up. Most of the results were links to here from friends's pages, references to me on the BASL site, or some guy who works for True Drilling of Wyoming.
I figure that somehow my name isn't on this page in any way that google picks up. So, to remedy that...

We'll see if that works!
Hey, folks, I'm back to my more regular update schedule. I got back Monday from skiing with Emily and her family in Tahoe. It was the first time I'd even seen a decent amount of snow, much less skied, but I did alright and had a lot of fun. I've been mad busy since I got back, and that's why I hadn't updated till now.
This weekend, I'm headed south to Orange County to see my folks and my OC Krew, and participate in the Bad Ass Strat-O-Matic League 2003 Draft. The DC Dragons are primed to make a comeback!
If you've read Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series, and more specifically, if you're tired with the way the plot's stalled in the last few books, than you'll love this post on the Jordan newsgroup.
Even if you're not a Jordan fan, it's still a pretty funny read, I think.
Too bad I have class tonight - Malcolm-Jamal Warner will be reciting his poetry at Sac State.
What's wrong with this picture?

If you answered "That's Mariners slugger Edgar Martinez, and he hasn't actually had a bunt in a game since 1994," you're right.
I realize it's spring training, and that spring is a time to practice fundamentals, but seriously, folks - does Seattle manager Bob Melvin really expect to ask Edgar to lay down a bunt this year?
Happy birthday, Ryan!
The afore-mentioned Adrienne, Jac and I have just bought 19 game plans for the Sacramento River Cats.
Mmmm..... baseball...
Yo. Jac and Adrienne are chillin' here at my place. Soon as Emily gets home, we're headin' out to Thai Palace for yummy veggie pad thai.
Today, Emily and I saw Daredevil with her cousin Mallory. They thought it was so-so. I, however, thought it was a very good movie. I don't think it was as good as the previous Marvel movie, Spider-Man, but it was fun and I liked the action and feel of the movie. It's kind of grown on my since I left the theater.
There were also three spiffy Marvel references. Did anyone else catch them? I'll post them to comments in a day or two if no one else gets them.
Hi there! This update is coming to you live from Los Altos, a suburb of San Jose, where Emily and I are spending the weekend with our friends Irene and Preston. This afternoon, we went to the Computer History Museum (where we saw a portion of ENIAC, as well as other cool stuff). Even cooler, Irene and Preston have an actual Skee-Ball game here in their home. So far, my high score is 210.
I was just reading this scathing article about Fred McGriff when I came to the "about the author" section:
Phil Rogers is the national baseball writer for the Chicago Tribune, which has a web site at www.chicagosports.com.
Hmmm.... bitter much?
You may notice updates to the side menus. That's because Mike was cool enough to fix them so I can edit them again (thanks, Mike!), and I have months of changes in web browsing preferences to reflect. So, feel free to try out some of my new links. They're cool - really!
Is it 2003 or 1984? Sometimes I just can't tell...
Of course, the Office of Total Information Awareness doesn't help.
And now for a very happy birthday wish to my Mom!!
Mad propz to webmastah Michael on getting our Bad Ass Strat-O-Matic League website up and running again. Thanks, Mike! Expect to see humorous DC Dragons commentary in the near future.
In a rather wise statement, poster DanMcS of ENWorld had this to say:
"It's pretty much a universal rule that if you have to ask yourself 'Am I getting old', the answer is 'Yes'."
Smart, that.
Here's an interesting NPR "Talk of the Nation" program dealing with the "What if? question of alternate history. As a big fan of Harry Turtledove, I think it's cool that the genre is getting some attention. It's too bad they couldn't get Turtledove to be on the program.
Can anyone please tell me what the term "opt-in" means? Besides code for "we dug your e-mail up somehow and are now sending you ads for herbal Viagra, easy ways to make $100,000 a day just by surfing the web, and Pasta Pros," that is.
Thank you.
Thanks to Ryan, who pointed out this great article on The Onion about the Yankees. Hi-lar-i-ous.
As of this post, pitchers and catchers begin reporting to spring training in 5 days, 11 hours, 20 minutes and 40 seconds.
That's 5 days, 11 hours, 20 minutes and 40 seconds too long. Bring on the baseball!!
Most will acknowledge the loss of life in the destruction of the space shuttle Columbia is a tragedy, and I agree. However, what worries me most is the setback this will be to our already-meager space exlporation program.
I'm a firm believer that humanity's destiny will take us to the stars, and events like this - which result in neccesary inquiries and unneccesary calls for a complete halt to the space program - make it that much less likely I'll see human travel to other planets in the solar system or space colonization in my lifetime. And that makes me sad.
Tonight, Emily and I went to the Mondavi Center and saw Kodo, a Japanese percussion company. It was an amazing and very powerful performance. If their tour comes near your area, I highly recommend you see them.
Next up for us at the Mondavi: Voice of the Dragon, Feb. 13. Lookin' forward to it!
