If you enjoyed the "Heir to the Throne of Condo," you'll love this:
This site features really bad but funny captions from a pirated copy of The Two Towers.
Today is the First Anniversary of garyh.net!! Huzzah! As of ths writing, I've had 7,093 visitors. Not bad for just a corner of the web where I can spout off or tell folks about my weekend plans, eh?
School started for me tonight. Ah well, break was nice while it lasted.

Here's a blast from the past: a great archive of Choose Your Own Adventure book listings!
Boy, I loved those things growing up. I actually still have about a dozen of them. My favorite was #87 "Knights of the Round Table." Still got it, too.
Anyone else remember these? If so, what was your favorite?
I've just begun running a superhero role playing game set in Orange County on ENWorld. The team is the Orange County Eight, recruited to protect OC from threats ignored by the super teams in LA and San Diego. Hired by Disney and the Irvine Corporation to protect tourism and property values in the county, their secret base is under Space Mountain in Disneyland.
The game can be found here for those interested in reading along with the group's adventures.
The Onion does it again:
"Kim Jong Il Unfolds Into Giant Robot."
Forgot to mention it earlier, but I find it highly amusing that this year's Super Bowl features the Oakland Raiders versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Arrrr, matey!! It do be the Pirate Bowl, it be. I hear tell in port that the trophy be buried under an "X" at the 50 yard line, arrrr!! Along with much gold bullion for the winnin' team, if tales do be true!
My folks were up here for the weekend, and it was great to have them visit for the first time. They flew in Saturday morning, and flew out a few hours ago.
Saturday, we went to Old Sacramento and cruised the area, and saw the very interesting California State Railroad Museum. Sunday, we visited Sutter's Fort and the State Indian Museum, and today Emily and I (okay, mostly Emily) made a pancake breakfast and we went to see a movie (Adaptation).
A really nice weekend, and really good to see my folks.
Next on the travel agenda, I'll be flying down Feb 28-March 2 to visit my folks and conduct the Strato draft with my friends.
Mike arrived safely in Santa Cruz yesterday. All indications are he's enjoying the his old college town.
One cool thing abuot Mike passing through Santa Cruz right now: My favorite still-writing author Robert Jordan was just in Santa Cruz on the 13th on a book tour. Mike's offered to pick me up a signed copy of his latest book, The Crossroads of Twilight. That is so cool!
Thanks Mike! You rock.
After a delightful lunch at Fresh Choice, Mike is on his way to the next stop on his Northern California tour, Santa Cruz. It was great to see him for the first time in six months. Any other OC krew interested in a trip North are also most welcome.
This past weekend, Emily and I went to Napa and Calistoga to celebrate our sixth anniversary, which was actually several weeks ago, right in the middle of my Fall finals week.
In any case, we spent Saturday in Napa. The highlight there was Copia, a museum that focuses on food and wine in American culture. It was a fun place to go. The garden tour was really cool, there were some neat exhibits and - of course - they serve some really good food there.
Sunday, we went to Calistoga, where we saw some local nature tourist stuff like a petrified forest and a geyser. Cool, but the real reason to go there came later: a trip to a spa for a mud bath and mineral treatment, followed by a massage. Yes, I know it kinda sounds... that way, but it was very enjoyable and quite relaxing. I'd never been to a spa before, but I was very pleased with our trip. It was my first professional massage, and it was simply wonderful.
There's more action coming up this week, too. Wednesday, Mike will be coming up to visit us on a road trip, and Saturday, my folks will be visiting Sacramento for the first time since I've moved here. Should be an exciting week!
Beware his Holiness, Battle Pope!
Glen Angus is a good artist. I mean really. Really really.
If you like Lord of the Rings, and you like action figures, then you must check this site out.
You know, I'm a big Transformers fan. But I'm not this big of a Transformers fan.
Another bit of Lord of the Rings goodness, here's a bunch of takes on what The Two Towers would look like as a bad Dungeons & Dragons game. Hi-lar-i-ous.
From a very funny site with pics of bad Lord of the Rings bootleg DVD captions:

If you agreed with the protest regarding The Two Towers, you'll be glad to know concerned citizens are taking similar action regarding The Return of the King.
I forgot to mention it, but yesterday was J.R.R. Tolkien's 111st birthday. All those familiar with his work should recognize the signifigance of that milestone.
Happy Birthday, Prof. Tolkien!!
I dig ENWorld.org's messageboards. Check out this discussion of the ethics of playing RPG's on Shabbat. Interesting stuff!
Happy New Year, everybody!!
