The Angels just won their fifth game in a row, the best current streak in the majors. It get's better. They beat the Cleveland Indians 21-2.
That's right.
Twenty-one.
To two.
Just for giggles, I figured the Angels team stats for the game. .449 average, .509 on base, .673 slugging, 1.182 OPS. Wow.
Wow.
Go Angels!!
Thanks to Mike, for pointing this story on CNN about Transformers out to me.
Till all are one!!
My god.... I just got back from Maggiano's, where Joe, Heather, Mike, Phaedra and I just commited gluttony with a "family style" meal.
So good... but so much food...
Simply amazing!!

David Eckstein (above) hit his second lifetime grandslam the day after his first - and gave the Anaheim Angels an 8-5, five hour long 14th inning win over the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Angels have now won four in a row.
Go Angels!!
I'm going to be watching at least three baseball games today.
First, the front end of a double header with the Dodgers in Chicago facing the Cubs going on right now on KCOP.
At one, the Angels host Toronto on FSN, with the occassional flip over to LA and Chicgo for their second game.
Topping it off at five, the Rangers and Indians go at it on ESPN.
Following that, of course, I'll be watching ESPN's Baseball Tonight.
I love baseball.
Great day for So Cal sports!! The LA Kings beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-1 to force a Game 7 in their first round NHL playoff series, and then this evening the Anaheim Angels spanked the Toronto Blue Jays 11-4 to win thier third in a row behind SS David Eckstien's first career grand slam.
Go Kings!! Go Angels!!
Right now, I'm watching the NFL Europe, Scotland Claymores at Frankfurt Galaxy. This is mostly because there's no baseball on TV yet today, and it beats Supercross or Strongest Man, since I don't even much care for the real NFL.
However, the amusing part of it is that a British guy is doing play by play. It's very funny to watch a football game that sounds like Wimbledon or Augusta.
UPDATE: I'm now watching Vin Scully call the Dodgers-Cubs rain delay in Chicago. Yup, I find a baseball rain elay more interesting than football.
Is it just me, or does this Sporting News description of Red's pitcher Jose Rijo's comeback sound scary to you too?
Reds team physician Tim Kremchek: "Normally, the ligament keeps the elbow stable. He's got a ligament, but we're just not sure how functional it is. From years of throwing, he has developed arthritis and bone spurs. It's the arthritic change that has stabilized his elbow. When the ligament doesn't work well, it's hard to pitch. When you get arthritis, the elbow gets stiff, which makes it more stable, which allows him to pitch."
Hey, someone found my site yesterday searching for "strat-o." Cool!!
I'm bummed. There's no baseball on tonight. Yes, I know there's hockey playoffs, including the LA Kings, but I still wish there was some baseball on. Ah, well.
I just noticed someone found my site searching for "enchilada caserole." Funny!
Do you... su-uuuuue!?
So you thought Satan was bad? Wait till you see what the Weekly World News has to say about Asmodeus.
(Props to my girlfriend for pointing out the WWN website.)
Happy Birthday, Michael Doss!!
I was looking at the Angels website and came across this article. I'd forgotten all about it, but Angels manager Mike Scioscia was a guest star on The Simpsons. As a huge Angels fan and a huge Simpsons fan, this is pretty cool to remember.
Here's the article, and here's an episode summary.
Mmmmmmm.... last of brownies.... drool
I just found out that Robert Jordan, one of my favorite authors, is set to release the tenth book in his Wheel of Time series in November. Crossroads of Twilight will be the title.
As Jordan has settled into a pattern of releasing a book every other year, the approaching release has me pretty excited. I'd have to say that Jordan is my favorite current fantasy author, just ahead of David Eddings, and behind only J.R.R Tolkien on my all-time fantasy list.
Today, I had my first experience at an Indian casino at Pechanga. I wasn't impressed, and was less pleased. I have no intention of going back. Poor sevice, limited game selection, expensive games - not worth the trip.
It might be three hours closer than Vegas, but I'd advise taking the extra three hours.
Boy, it sure would be nice to see the Angels win. I've gone to three games so far, and the Angels are 0-3 in them, having been outscored 21-3. They've only been in the lead for less than half an inning, when they were up 2-0 after the first tonight and then gave up three in the top of the second.
At least I got a free t-shirt.
I make a hell of a brownie. A hell of a brownie.
Here's the final Gary Softball Update, at least for my work league.
I went 1 for 6, with a run. I made the third out three times, leaving 8 men on in those three at bats. No' vetty goo'.
The team lost by a run. Our final record was 4-6.
My final line for the season was 16-39 (.410 average), .410 OBP, .462 SLG, .872 OPS, 2 doubles, 10 runs scored, 3 RBI, 4 K's, and 1 GIDP.
Final league record will be available here sometime tomorrow afternoon.
Thanks to Ryan, Eric, and Joe for coming out and playing, enabling us to field a team.
Well, due to a number of players for my company team dropping out tonight, I'll once again be taking the field with some of my friends. This time, Ryan, Eric, and Joe get the nod. Hopefully, this week we'll win.
I just got back tonight from visiting my girlfriend in Sacramento. I had a great time, as usual. One thing that sucked, though, is that upon getting my car out of hock at the parking stucture tonight, I found that the price for a weekend of parking jumped from $27 to $39. My flight only cost $75 ($18 of which was taxes)!!!
I just stumbled on to this at www.shawngreen.net, another fan's tribute to my favorite baseball player.

I thought my fellow Kings fans would appreciate the pic.
I happened to come across this article at Slate about tall men and wages in the sidebar of an espn page. Pretty interesting, but I have one question: Why aren't I making more, then?
(For those who may be reading this but haven't met me, I'm 6'7", and have been abnormally tall at all ages.)
Late Gary Softball Update here: Tuesday I went 1 for 3, a double, run, RBI, and double play. The team lost 28-14. Our record is now 4-5 with one game to go.
It was a heck of a lot of fun having Ryan, Eric, and Adam there playing with me, though. It was great to all play together in an actual game, and all of us had pretty good games.
The biggest downer of the evening, even more so than losing, was on my double I made a great slide. Problem was, I was wearing shorts. I scraped up about a 3"x3" area on my high back right thigh. It's been very painful and sticky ever since, but seems to be getting better.
Today, I went to SportMart and bought some sliding shorts. Now, I just need to find a way to travel back in time to Monday and leave them for me to wear to the game Tuesday. Any ideas?
Hey, long time, no post. I've been out of circulation for the last several days, having gone up to Glendale after work Wednesday to attend Passover seder at my lovely girlfriend's parents' house. Passover was a lot of fun, and all in attendance at the seder had a good time.
Thursday night, for the second night of Passover, I went with my girlfriend and her folks to second night seder at the Chernows', family friends of my girlfriend's family. Another great evening, with a very different flavor than first night.
Friday and Saturday, Emily and I went camping at Joshua Tree. All the campgrounds were full, so we "back country" camped, meaning we parked in a designated lot and hauled our stuff a mile away and off the trail and camped. It was a nice night, so we didn't even use our tent, sleeping under the stars instead.
Sunday, I attended Opening Night at Edison Field in Anaheim, were the Angels lost 6-0 to the Cleveland Indians. It was a fun fan experience, but it would have been more fun had the Angels given the fans something to cheer about. In any case, I left the stadium with a new Red Dawn batting practice hat and a Garret Anderson t-shirt.
Today, it was back to work. However, even that was interesting, if only tangentially so. It seems three of the guys on my work softball team won't be able to make it tomorrow night, so I've enlisted part of my gang - Ryan, Adam, and Eric, fellow Strato owners and Saturday morning softballers. Tomorrow's game should be a lot of fun.
